Reporter John Klein is plunged into a world of impossible terror when fate draws him to the sleepy West Virginia town of Point Pleasant, whose residents are being visited by a great winged shape that sows hideous nightmares and fevered visions.
This is dread delivered as static on the line, as a shape half-seen at the edge of the frame. It works on your nerves through suggestion rather than assault, building a paranoid certainty that something vast and indifferent is watching. The fear here is cerebral, cold, and lingering—an unease that follows you out of the room.
