When a mysterious entity possesses a young girl, her mother seeks the help of two Catholic priests to save her life.
This is dread administered slowly, in a cold and clinical hand. Friedkin lets the ordinary curdle before your eyes, corrupting a child, a home, and your certainty that faith can hold. The fear is patient and physical — it settles into the body, then refuses to leave once the film ends.
