The dread here is patient and mechanical. Fuqua builds tension in silences and stopwatches, then releases it in bursts of clinical, unflinching violence. What unsettles is the calm — the sense of a man who has already decided how each room will end. Your pulse tightens in the waiting, not the reckoning.
