After escaping from an Estonian psychiatric facility, Leena Klammer travels to America by impersonating Esther, the missing daughter of a wealthy family. But when her mask starts to slip, she is put against a mother who will protect her family from the murderous “child” at any cost.
A prequel that trades pure shock for a slow, cunning game of masks. The dread here is intimate and domestic—a predator inside the home, watched by prey that may be sharper than she is. The tension lives in every glance and half-truth, tightening until you distrust the quiet as much as the violence.
