A farm boy reluctantly becomes a member of the undead when a girl he meets turns out to be part of a band of vampires who roam the highways in stolen cars.
Near Dark burns with a slow, sun-scorched dread. Bigelow strips the vampire of romance and leaves only appetite, letting the fear seep in through dusty highways and motel rooms where daylight becomes a countdown. The terror is atmospheric and physical: heat, hunger, and the creeping certainty that belonging here means becoming something monstrous.
