After another deadly shark attack, Ellen Brody decides she has had enough of New England's Amity Island and moves to the Caribbean to join her son, Michael, and his family. But a great white shark has followed her there, hungry for more lives.
This is fear worn thin by grief, where the water itself feels like a personal vendetta. The dread here is maternal and paranoid — a mother convinced the ocean is hunting her family. Sun-soaked beaches offer no relief, only a warmer place to feel exposed. The terror is more emotional than clinical, and often teeters into the absurd.
